Message from the Director

Public health is a growing and essential field of study.  During the twentieth century, public health efforts improved overall quality of life and increased life expectancy. More recently, emphasis has been placed on achieving health equity and addressing social determinants of health.  The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics 10-year job projections anticipate a 23.8% growth in the public health field. B.S. in Public Health majors gain practical, hands-on experience through coursework, including their internship/independent study and numerous other opportunities.

What Is Public Health?

"Defining a health problem, quantifying it, figuring out ways to address it, remedy it, reduce it, and then seeing if those approaches have worked properly." Matt Page, Assistant Professor of Public Health
